Website Migration
-
Q: Why do I need to transfer my site? What does website migration involve?
A: When your current web hosting provider can no longer match the demands of your web site, or if you experience frequent network downtime, or if you are made to wait for hours for the client support staff to respond to you, it might be smart to change your web hosting provider, i.e. to migrate all the files for your web sites together with your databases from your present provider to your future provider. At DC-webhosting.com, we are aware that this can be difficult and time–consuming. That is the reason why we’ll accomplish all that for you for free! Our highly proficient technical team reps will move your website content from your current hosting provider to us. Our technicians have lots of experience migrating websites and can take care of anything – from a regular WordPress–powered blog or Joomla™–based site, to a highly complex, custom–made application.
-
Q: Just how long will the web site migration procedure take?
A: While we can’t give you a precise time frame, since there are plenty of factors, including the physical size of the web files and databases, the physical location of the current host’s server, the complexity of your web site and the current workload of our Website Migration Department, etc., we will give our very best to migrate your site within 48h, and in some cases – within 24h (if the website content is not very large).
-
Q: Do you require something from me before you begin transferring my web site?
A: We will require the login information for your old hosting provider’s Control Panel along with the web site’s name (domain name).
-
Q: The login details for my hosting account are delicate. How can I trust you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the contract that we’ll have with you as a customer. We’re committed to protecting the security of the private details gathered from the customers. To accomplish this, we employ technical safety measures to avoid the loss, the misapplication, the alteration or the illegal leakage of the information under our control. The safety measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and administrative operations to safeguard and secure the details that we receive on the World Wide Web. When we ask users to present financial info (such as a debit card number), this info is secured using the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology.
-
Q: How about downtime? Will my web site be offline?
A: Nah. Your website will continue to be accessible online during the migration. Once everything is done on our end, we’ll inform you so that you can preview it and check for problems. If everything is OK, all you will need to do is update your domain name’s DNS resource records.
-
Q: Will my current hosting provider learn that I am leaving them?
A: While we move your web content, your web hosting provider won’t be aware of the transfer at all. We won’t touch base with them in any way.
-
Q: Which hosting platforms do you support?
A: Yes. We support all common Linux–powered hosting platforms. We do not support Windows–powered web hosting platforms, as we do not offer Windows hosting services ourselves. In addition, we don’t support proprietary site creation and management interfaces such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
